During the month of April, for every new loan application I receive, I will give $50 to the Big Brothers, Big Sisters Charitable Organization, aka B.B.B.S. I have been a “Big” brother and volunteer for over 1 year now and have experienced first hand the positive difference this organization makes.
This summer is expected to be a busy home buying season and now is the time for prospective buyers to get prepared and pre-approved for a home loan. In hopes of helping more people with their financing needs and raising much needed $ for this charity, I’m setting a goal to complete 20 new applications in the month of April and donate $1,000.

How did I come to get involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization?
In 2012, I found myself yearning to start a lifelong effort to give back in anyway I can. I knew that I only had my time to give and being a single man with no wife and kids, the big brother idea sounded like a good fit for me, so I volunteered. After a lengthy screening process to get approved (they are very careful about who they let into the program as you can imagine) I was matched with “my little” about 1 year ago. While it hasn’t been easy, it has been a great experience and one that I plan to continue. I do believe I have made an impact in my little’s life and have learned much throughout the process. One aspect that has been surprising however is how great the organization and support staff are at Big Brothers Big Sisters San Diego. Whether it is organizing fun and exciting activities or being there to support us, I could not be more impressed with their passion and dedication. I highly recommend the program, especially for men, since there is such a shortage of “Big” volunteers compared to the kids in the program waiting.
The picture here is from a few weeks ago…that is me under the 7 in the green hat standing behind my little. We were fortunate enough to have a private tour the U.S.S Carl Vincent Navy ship. One of the “Big” volunteers is in the Navy and he was able to arrange this special experience which I have no doubt was very impactful for the kids.
