My Father and I recently celebrated our 2nd year as volunteers for the Farmers Insurance Open PGA Golf Tournament. We joined my good friend and colleague Jeff Grant, Principal and Broker of Sand and Sea Investments. Jeff is a member of The Century Club of San Diego, the charitable organization tasked with putting on this event. Tournament earnings are used solely for charitable purposes with a focus on San Diego at-risk youth and youth charities, which makes being a part of this amazing event and long standing tradition an absolute honor.
This year I also invited my Transparent Mortgage team and several clients to share the experience and enjoy the beautiful Torrey Pines Golf Course. Jason Day pulled out an exciting victory and the weather was great.
Our job during the event is called a “Walking Scorer” and entails keeping the players score for the entire round and transmitting the stroke-by-stroke info to the PGA shot link truck which. The link trunk then broadcasts the live score we counted in real time to the world. Being tasked to do this is thrilling, and as big golf fans, being inside the ropes with the pro’s is a wonderful, one of a kind experience!
We’re already looking forward to next year!
